OPTICAL, ELECTRICAL AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF CHALCOPYRITE, CuFeS2

چکیده
Various optical, electrical and magnetic properties of a magnetic semiconductor, CuFeS2, have been studied. Optical absorption spectra show the absorption edge at 0.6 eV for CuFeSz and strong absorption bands at 1.3 eV and 2.0 eV for Fe-doped CuAIS2. Photoconductivity is also observed at the same energy region of the absorption edge. These strong absorptions originate from the charge transfer transitions relating to 3d orbitals of Fe and the absorption edge of CuFeSz rises from the band-to-band transition corresponding to this charge transfer transition. For nand p-type CuFeS2 electrical conductivities increase slightly with decreasing temperature and carrier concentrations do not depend on temperature. Mobility has small value as 10 cm21V.s for n-type specimen and l cm2/V. S for p-type. Magnetic susceptibility is also temperature independent between 40 K and 600 K and its magnitude is 1 0 3 per mol. These apparent metallic behaviors of electric and magnetic properties are understood from a model of a degenerate semiconductor where 3d orbitals arc appreciably admixed with s and p orbitals and compose both the conduction and valence band.

Magnetic and Electrical Properties of Nanocrystalline Fe85Si10Ni5/Phenolic Resin Soft Magnetic Composites
In this work, nanocrystalline Fe85Si10Ni5 soft magnetic powders were prepared by mechanical alloying and subsequent annealing to reduce the internal stresses and lattice strains. The powders were mixed with phenolic resin and warm pressed to produce nanostructured soft magnetic composites. The effect of annealing time and temperature on the crystalline structure, microstructure and magnetic pro...

The term Nanofluids was first coined by Sir Stephen Choi in 1995 at Argonne National Laboratory ,U.S.A .Since the discovery, nanofluid have been explored as heat transfer fluids. Nanofluids increased the thermal conductivity of existing coolants (Water, Ethylene glycol) by a magnitude of hundred times which made them attractive for miniaturization of electronic devices .From 1995 till 2008 nano...

متن کاملSolid-State Molecular Sensors (SSMS) based on confined III-IV-V2 multi-functional heterostructures
Nonlinear confined (optical and/or electrical) heterostructures based on III-IV-V2 chalcopyrite (CP) thin films and/or embedded CP materials offer unique advantages over group III-V and IV linear structures. These stem from the birefringent nature and the lower crystal symmetry of the CP semiconductors. As an example, this property is responsible three-wave nonlinear parametric processes (a sec...
